We are delighted to invite you to the 9th International Meeting on Bone Marrow Adiposity (BMA2026), taking place in Edinburgh, UK, on 10–11 September 2026.
BMA2026 will bring together a global community to share the latest fundamental and clinical advances in bone marrow adiposity (BMA). Our programme will span diverse clinical and scientific fields related to BMA, including endocrinology, rheumatology, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, radiology, oncology, haematology, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, imaging, physiology and pharmacology. Our participants will include clinicians and scientists from around the world.
We are the only international meeting dedicated to BMA and are held in affiliation with BMAS – The International Bone Marrow Adiposity Society. Recent advances include deep-learning-enabled population-scale BMA analysis and cutting-edge single-cell and spatial omics methods to elucidate marrow adipocyte formation and function. BMA2026 is designed to showcase these advances while fostering the collaborations that turn discovery into better diagnostics and therapies.

We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh in September!

Known as the "Athens of the North," its UNESCO-listed centre showcases a stunning contrast between the narrow, medieval closes of the Old Town and the spacious, elegant Georgian New Town. As the heart of the Scottish Enlightenment, Edinburgh holds massive historical importance as a cradle of philosophy, medicine, and economics, fostering thinkers like David Hume and Adam Smith. Iconic attractions include Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the skyline from its perch on Castle Rock, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and the Royal Mile. Scientifically, the city is a global leader, recognized as the birthplace of Dolly the Sheep—the first cloned mammal—and for pioneering work in anesthetics, computing, and geology. Culturally, it is renowned as a festival city, home to the world's largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and serves as the seat of the Scottish Parliament.
Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, is a city defined by its dramatic, volcanic landscape and a profound, layered history.
